PDC - Here I Come
Friday, 9th September, 2005
In just a few hours I'm heading off to the City of Angels for Microsoft's big professional developer event, PDC05. I've attended a couple of TechEd's but this is my first PDC (Professional Developer's Conference) and it looks like there's going to be a TON of new stuff to find out about.
With my trusty Canon EOS-1DS, flash and 28mm-300mm lens the thought of lugging my 'power' notebook around didn't appeal so I'm taking a newly purchased Fujitsu-Siemens P7040 Limited Edition notebook (Sony Vaio T2XP? Pah!) with me. With a claimed 10 hours battery life (yeah, right! Is it me or are salesmen getting more and more audacious in their claims?!), 1GB memory, 100GB 5400rpm disk drive and a ton of freshly loaded Virtual PC's with the latest beta's, CTPs and hot fixes I think I'm ready to trot.
I've been selected at random to win one of the 10 best seats in the house so hopefully I'll be getting some good pictures, at the keynotes at least.
But first it's a couple of days with friends from my 'Lord of the Rings' weblogs days, John and Susan Brock, in San Diego for some much longed-for R&R (you do not want to know how bad my sleep patterns have been during this last week of work!)
I'm starting off PDC with a pre-conference workshop on Visual Studio 2005 on Monday and then PDC proper kicks off on the Tuesday. Stay tuned!
